The Real Client Challenge! Their clients were the crew of *Below Deck.* I've seen commercials for this show and it looks like pure unmitigated trash. I don't know if that's a good thing or not, it could go either way. The designers were tasked with making new uniforms for them. They had to be black and white, they could go nutty with the trim, and the uniforms with epaulettes still had to have epaulettes. The captain said, "You guys are gonna be busier than the door knob at a whorehouse on Nickel Night." Classy.
Guest commentator Waldorf said this: “I LOVED this episode for so many reasons. The Real Client Challenge, Nina is back, Rami is still there, and the look on Anna’s face when she found out that this week’s challenge - all reasons to be excited about this episode.”
The designers were randomly matched up with crew members. They spoke with them for 40 minutes to talk through ideas, learn about what they did and how their uniforms need to function.
Anna annoyed guest commentator Statler from the get go, due to her interview with the camera attire: “I find myself almost immediately annoyed, because Anna is again wearing gloves and now a lampshade on her head. What IS that?”
Waldorf said this, in response: “As soon as I saw Anna in the long black gloves I knew my cohort Statler would be annoyed. Personally, I was more annoyed with the head piece that was combination Wedding Veil and Mushroom Cap that morphed into the cap on the Carol Burnett Cleaning Lady.”
Anna is in a different and more serious kind of trouble in the workroom. A kimono-inspired look for a captain on the boat? As Christian said, "Really?" How could this turn out well.
The designers and crew members all went out drinking together, with alarming results. Anna got snuggly with one of the crew members, a long haired slag named Gary. She told him she had been "divorced for two days." A good opportunity to quote Christian: "Really?"
Statler said this: “Christian said Nina does not like to see someone hung over. I want to see Nina hung over. I want to go drinking with Nina.
“I do NOT want to go drinking with Anna. She's really a mess. Now flirting and kissing one of the clients? I just feel sorry for her and suspect she'll be au’d tonight. It's about time but I actually feel bad for her watching this disaster unfold.” Take your time, Miss Statler…
Waldorf: “Maybe next Thanksgiving Anna can light a fire, gather the family, shoot some tequila, and watch the episode where she flirted with Gary while her husband was home taking care of the baby. This Norman Rockwell moment brings a tear to my eye.”
Prajjé thought Kara Saun's look was over the top. He was surprised it didn't have ostrich feathers. Ha!
Welcome back, Miss Nina! We missed you. The guest judges were Kate Chastain, former chief steward of *Below Deck,* and Real Housewife Countess Luann de Lesseps. Bravo cross pollination out of every pore, honey.
TOP THREE
Bishme: my favorite look of the night, the blouse and skirt were tremendous. Nina was totally sold on using neoprene. Chastain said she'd wear it out on the street. The Countess loved the anchor on the jacket. I think that jacket might have gone missing at the end of the night.
Brittany: I'm impressed at how well it came together. The white stitching really made it. Chastain felt it would work in the engine room but also in the dining room for a formal dinner. Elaine felt like she nailed the challenge but also made something fashionable.
Rami: very cute, sort of modified airline hostess. The judges thought it was crisp and sharp and thought it linked form with function. The judges all mentioned how happy the client seemed, that means a lot.
IN THE MIDDLE
Korto: something about the overthing with the little dress underneath, it didn't work for me. Nina thought it looked upscale, so again I'm wrong.
Laurence: the jacket made it less uniform-y. I'm not sure about it. Nina and Brandon felt it was lacking details and Laurence had no response.
BOTTOM THREE
Kara Saun: she said it was James Bond, but that was not the challenge! A little too tricked out for work. The judges agreed with me. Nina thought it made him look more like a guest. Brandon thought it was impractical. Nina also pointed out that there were numerous fit issues. Not good!
Prajjé: too much going on, especially the hat. Nina found the print distracting. Brandon, ouch! He said, "For me, almost top to bottom, it didn't work." Elaine said, "Captain Sandy said, 'I want him to be the captain of the ship.' But he sunk her ship." Ouch again!
Anna: no, no, and no. It looked nothing like a uniform. The guests would be confused, they wouldn't understand that he was a crew member. Brandon felt like the epaulettes didn't fit well on his broad shoulders. Nina thought the sleeves were droopy and the whole look lacked authority.
Statler said this: “I kinda liked the Captain's look even if it was from Anna. But it was not a good uniform. It would be good if he were performing at the ‘Front Porch’ piano bar in Ogunquit Maine.”
Hoorah, the winner was Bishme. So deserving. Also deserving: Anna was sent home. Statler said this: “Anna has been a weak link for a while. She has talent but needs to 'figure her sh-t out' so she can be more consistent. Her sniffy exit was on brand.”
Waldorf had these closing remarks: “I actually agreed with the judges’ Top Picks and Bottom Picks. Rami has just a kind soul, I am excited he redeemed himself. I would have loved for him to be on top, but I thought Bishmee had the top look and was glad to see him win. I would have been okay with either of them being on top.
“And those on the bottom…. well Anna, The Real Client Challenge took you out again! Goodbye. Go home and do damage control before the episode airs. Prajjé could also have easily gone home though. He missed the mark on his design for Captain Sandy. She wanted bling, he gave her something from the donation pile out of an older drag queen’s closet.”
