Monday I was watching a clip of Yugoslavian soprano Danica Ilitch singing an aria from Un Ballo in Maschera and YouTube thought I'd be interested in this clip of Vlasta Krsek, the Shirley Temple of Czechoslovakia, the Queen of Polka, performing on the Carson Tonight Show. It's a stretch but yes, YouTube, thank you, you were right this time. Just hearing Johnny say, "Ed will help you remove your accordion" is worth it.
I have to be honest and say when I saw that tiny image on the side panel in YouTube and saw this seemingly vivacious person named Vlasta Krsek in a colorful national costume, I thought it might be Jonathan Winters in drag. But no, this lady was legit. And she's adorable.
