I like to use the first Friday of the month for a mystery guest from *What's My Line?* I also like to tie that into whatever theme I'm using for the Diva/Mensch pair that week. It doesn't appear that Sly Stone ever appeared as a mystery guest but I've found the next best thing: he was co-host of *The Mike Douglas Show.*

I wish I could see the whole thing - and maybe a conversation between Sly and Richard Pryor, that would be so cool. I hope they were friends! Sly lived in a party house when I was at San Francisco State College and musicians, hangers-on and friends would go there all the time. It was only a couple of blocks from where I lived, so I went there a number of times to smoke pot! The Grateful Dead house was like that too.
