I'm ending our French Fridays with three wonderful performances of Ravel's "Boléro." First, my friend Jim Bingham recently sent me this wonderful version:
Are you freaking kidding me? That "solo" version of the Bolero was "🔥lit", as the kids say this these days. I highly doubt that the great Leonard Rose taught Mrs. Geraldine Jennings this take on Ravel at Juilliard in 1952. Those of us at Wileman School in 1972 were taught more traditional techniques, no? How truly blessed we were by being taught by this incredible musician and woman. Her love for the violincello and everything strings was inspirational. Only now, some 49 years later, do I appreciate what Mrs. Jennings did for us all. ❤️🎻🤗
