The winner for Best Adapted Screenplay in 1988 was Christopher Hampton for *Dangerous Liaisons,* an opulent costume drama about sexual machinations in 18th century France. Another nominee that year was *The Accidental Tourist,* a gentle little drama about a travel writer and the major and minor tragedies in his life.

God, I loved that movie, Dangerous Liaisons and the book maybe even more! Michelle Pfeiffer as the unwitting romantic victim and Uma Thurman as the eager student were incredible alongside the stars- Worth another watch for sure!
