The Best Actress winner for 2018 was Olivia Colman for The Favourite. Major diva role, with all the queenly finery and all those damned rabbits. Colman played her with a disarming frankness but the trappings are all Diva. My choice for the win that year was Glenn "Always a Nominee Never a Winner" Close for The Wife, in a terse, powerful performance as a woman whose husband gets all of the credit and she gets lost in the shuffle. The fact that this was her seventh nomination with no wins makes her a mensch for the ages. Bless her heart.
