I was tempted to choose Renee Zellweger as Judy Garland and Saoirse Ronan as Jo March as the diva/mensch Best Actress duo for 2019 but then I saw the Best Supporting Actor lineup. My diva choice is Brad Pitt in Once Upon a Time...In Hollywood. You could say that being a stuntman, he's really the mensch to Leonardo di Caprio's diva, but taken on his own terms, he's a definite diva. The clothes, the swagger, the nerve, and that heavenly moment when he takes off his shirt on the roof... I saw the movie opening weekend in a big Times Square multiplex theater, totally sold out excited audience, and at that moment in the movie the audience was absolutely silent but when Pitt took his shirt off some random gay dude (not me, I swear) let out a groan. The whole audience giggled.
