The Best Picture winner for 1977 was *Annie Hall,* a funny and touching Woody Allen movie, one of his best, a love letter to his old girlfriend Diane Keaton (who won Best Actress). One of the other nominees that year was *The Turning Point,* a delightfully overblown ballet melodrama with Anne Bancroft and Shirley MacLaine as two middle-aged women, one a grand diva of the ballet world (Bancroft), the other gave up her career to have a family (MacLaine).
Diva: *The Turning Point*
