The Oscars in 2020 were odd - - it was high Covid so the show was super scaled down. The Best Picture Oscar went to a mensch of a movie, Nomadland, a gentle little movie about people living in their vans and forming communities, looking out for each other. The diva in the group was Mank, an Oscar bait movie, full of flash and verve, about screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz. The Oscars loves movies about the movies and I'm sure director David Fincher thought he had a sure thing. He was wrong.
