The Best Actress winner for 2007 was Marion Cotillard for La Vie En Rose, in a stunning, fevered performance as Edith Piaf. Diva to the hilt. One of the other nominees that year was Julie Christie in Away From Her, playing a woman struggling with Alzheimer's. Her performance was somehow both tender and brutal, but powerfully understated, the true mark of the Mensch.
