I'm closing out this theme with a song from the 60s and a more contemporary song, both of which look back to something from the 19th century. My heartfelt thanks to my brother Howard for partnering with me on this two-month divamensch theme!
I wanted to pair something with Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" so I did a Google search for songs inspired by *Alice in Wonderland* and found a droopy little number by Franz Ferdinand. "White Rabbit" is such an amazing song - - I love the Moorish contours of the melody. And Grace Slick, what a fabulous, distinctive voice.
Gotta tell ya - Jefferson Airplane played a concert at my JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL when I was in 7th grade. Grace Slick forgot her recorder, which she was planning on playing in the concert. Stephanie to the rescue! I played in a recorder consort at that time (yes, we had that kind of thing in PUBLIC SCHOOL back then) and she accompanied me to my locker and I lent her my soprano recorder and got a front-row place at the outdoor concert. How about THAT!!
