This week I'm highlighting another master of the art song form, Francis Poulenc. I'm using recordings by the quintessentially French soprano Mady Mesplé, with Gabriel Tacchino at the piano.
Diva: "C"
Mensch: "Fleurs"
Both songs have a slow tempo. "C" has the Diva attitude because it's grand and tragic. "Fleurs" is the Mensch because it's a sweet, lovely song about flowers.
