I have to be honest and say I hadn't heard of this person until I read her NY Times obit - - she was the oldest person on earth, she died the other day at the age of 118. She inherited that title when Kane Tanaka died last April at age of 119. Yowza.
Sister André was born in 1904, survived the two world wars, the 1918 influenza pandemic, and even Covid! Another of her Guinness World Records: she was the oldest person to survive getting Covid.
The current oldest person alive is Maria Branyas Morera, who is a spritely 115.
