CDA: Mimieux and Talley

My friend Dianna alerted me to the death of Yvette Mimieux, the American actress with the French name. She was 80 years old. I guess she's best known for her break-out role in *The Time Machine,* but I've never seen that movie. I know her from *Where the Boys Are* and *The Light in the Piazza.* Here's the preview for that movie:

And I thought of my beloved Nicola Buchanan when I heard about the death of Andre Leon Talley, who died at the age of 73. He's described as "former Vogue magazine editor-at-large and one of the fashion industry’s and New York culture's most influential icons." He was grand, he was brilliant, he was an American original. I thought of Nicola because she and I saw a documentary about him a few years ago. Here's the trailer for that movie:

RIP Andre Leon Talley - what an amazing person. I happen to be reading Bill Cunningham's memoirs right now but I had to put it down to watch that one-hour documentary on Talley. Whew. I remember reading that his former friend (or whoever) wanted to evict him from that house - I wonder what ever happened about that. It was a couple of years ago. I hope he was able to live out his last days in some semblance of a dignified exit. Did you see the documentary? Amazing. From the backwater of Durham NC.
