Oh, the marvelous Kirk Douglas. 103! Pretty impressive. I read in his NY Times obit that he was good friends with Burt Lancaster, which isn't a surprise - - they were both hunky, handsome leading men who wanted to be taken seriously as ACTORS.
Here's a clip from my favorite film of his, *Young Man With a Horn,* a fabulous movie. It starts off looking like your standard-issue musical number in a movie, seeming more like a showcase for Doris Day. But then it turns into Douglas's scene, and wow, he's incredible.
It's Harry James playing the trumpet on the soundtrack, and he also coached Douglas on faking it. I've never seen anyone else be so good at music faking in a movie, he's really amazing.
