CDA: Berganza, Birney, and Ward

The mezzo soprano Teresa Berganza died at the age of 89. Here she is singing the show-stopping final aria from Rossini's Cinderella opera. It's amazing how all the quick little notes are precisely articulated but still smooth and lustrous.

David Birney died at the age of 83. I know him for being the husband of Meredith Baxter Birney, for a time. Richard had fond memories of the two of them on *Bridget Loves Bernie,* so we checked out the first episode on Crackle. I thought it was cute, he thought it didn't hold up very well. Here's a sample episode:

And Fred Ward died at the age of 79. I hoped to find a clip of him in *The Player,* a movie I adore, but no luck. I've never seen *Tremors* and just put it on hold at the New York Public Library. This is how it's described on imdb: "Natives of a small isolated town defend themselves against strange underground creatures which are killing them one by one." Fred Ward, Kevin Bacon, Michael Gross, and Reba Freaking McEntire! Sounds like my kind of movie. Based on this clip it looks super dopey but hopefully it would be more interesting once those critters start coming out of the earth.
