I read in the NY Times about the death of John Amos, the star of Good Times and Roots, who died at the age of 84. I'm sure I watched Good Times when I was a kid but I watched a couple of episodes recently and was pleasantly surprised. It rides that line between being a sitcom and telling a story about real people with real problems. Amos was wonderful as the father and, it has to be said, he was VERY handsome.
My friend Dianna told me about the death of Frank Fritz, one of the stars of American Pickers, who died at the age of 60. Dianna and her husband Tom are fans of the shoe. She said this: "We've watched their show for several years. We've visited one of their stores in Nashville. Two really great fellas who have a lot of fun 'picking' across the country."
She sent me this clip. Frank is the guy with the beard.
