Diva: *A Summer Place* is a 1959 gauzy drama with Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue as the blond teen pair. The theme song (my parents' "song," by the way) was a huge hit, it spent nine weeks at number one on the BIllboard chart.

Mensch: *Blue Denim* is from the same year, 1959, and features an equally blond teen pair, Carol Lynley and Brandon de Wilde. But there's nothing gauzy about it, it's fairly gritty, especially in comparison to *A Summer Place.* The trailer is hosted by the one and only Miss Joan Crawford! Who had gone blonde herself!
