I did a youtube search for "national anthem opera singer." I bypassed America's Soprano Renée Fleming, because even though she sang it very well, I really didn't want to hear her sing it again. I found this marvelous rendition by Heidi Skok, who sang 63 performances at the Met in small roles from 1992 through 2003, including the astonishing Met premiere of *Moses und Aron,* one of my greatest nights at the Met. Now she lives in Ohio, where I imagine (with a voice like this), she's a big fish in a small pond.
