I finally got around to watching Patti Lupone singing "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina" at the Grammys a couple weeks ago. You can quibble about Patti Lupone's singing - - OK, *I* will quibble about her singing, but you can't deny the absolute conviction and power of that woman!
Here's my quibble: she has two settings - - soft/tender and loud/forceful. 5 MPH to 80 MPH. Pale grey to deepest black. Mensch and Diva! Or to use my favorite metaphor, it's like she's wearing an angora sweater with a skirt made out of chrome. Or is that a simile?
