My brother Patrick is on the Twitter feed for the Glyndebourne Festival, a fabulous summer opera festival on a country estate in England. Do I need to join the Twitter? Glyndebourne sent a tweet the other day celebrating the 60th anniversary of the premiere of Samuel Barber's *Vanessa* (premiered at the Met on 1/15/58). I love *Vanessa,* I think it was the first opera recording I bought on CD. Here are the two greatest arias in the show, "Must the winter come so soon?" sung by Frederica von Stade and "Do not utter a word" sung by Eleanor Steber, who created the role of Vanessa.
